I have the honor to report to you that I have granted nine
months leave of absence, to proceed to England upon medical
Certificate, to
Mr Philip Henry Nind Stipendiary Magistrate
and Assistant Gold Commissioner
for for the district of
Cariboo.
2. I regret to be deprived of the valuable services of
Mr Nind at this time, when so large an immigration is
anticipated to the District where he is known and respected,
and over which he has presided with admirable judgment and
discretion, but as the Medical Certificate states that to
ensure his complete recovery from an attack of paralysis of
the
the right side of the face, it is necessary he should proceed
to England, I do not hesitate to grant him this short leave
of absence, in the hope that change of scene and relief from
harassing duties, may in themselves perhaps be sufficient to
restore him to health.
