Despatch to London.
Minutes (3), Enclosures (untranscribed) (2), Other documents (3).
The first of the two documents included in the file, “Return No 1,” is a list of employment
statistics; the second, “Return No 2,” lists “all new offices and appointments” and
salaries for each—both cover the period up to
December 31, 1861, presumably for
BC.
This file encloses three miscellaneous documents, which appear to be added on to the
end of the
1861 files. The first is a draft replay from
Newcastle to
Douglas, which appears to notify
Douglas of the appointment of
John Garret as the “Agent In
British Columbia In the Exhibition of Works of Industry,” for the
London exhibition of 1862, though the bulk of the text is crossed out; the second is a letter
from
Sanford to
Garrett, which discusses
BC's submission to the
London exhibition; third appears to be a minute entry entitled “Estimates,” which discusses
procedural matters related to the Treasury.
