Despatch from London.
Newcastle writes to Douglas to note the receipt of copies of correspondence between Douglas and Dallas, which follow an argument between them on the role of the HBC, especially with respect
to land-claims, in British Columbia. Newcastle finds Douglas's explanations satisfactory and sees no need for Douglas to answer Dallas's latest rejoinder.

I have to acknowledge the receipt of your despatch No. 102 of the
6th of December enclosing copies of a correspondence with Mr Dallas, the Hudson's Bay Company's Agent at Victoria, relative to the affairs and position of the Company in connection with the Colony
of British Columbia.
