With reference to my despatch No. 57 of the 5th of April last I have to acquaint you that the name of Mr Henry Pering Pellew-Crease, resident in Vanc. Island and the Senior Barrister of the Colony, has been favorably brought under my notice, and that I am prepared to appoint him to the vacant office of Attorney General for B. Columbia provided that you are of opinion that the vacancy oughttoManuscript image to be at present filled up.
In the absence however of any recommendation from yourself I have not submitted Mr Crease's name to The Queen, but in the event of your considering him fully qualified to fill the Office, and subject to the above proviso the necessary steps will be taken for the final confirmation of the appointment.
