The Lords Commissioners of Her Majesty's Treasury have had before them your letters of the 19th September, and 27th December last, and their enclosures.
Their Lordships desire me to state, for the information of the Duke of Newcastle, that, after fully considering the subject of the memorials submitted for improved Postal Communication with the Colony of British Columbia, and having communicated thereon with the Postmaster General, they see no sufficient reason, at theManuscript image present time, for granting a subsidy towards improving the arrangements under which correspondence is conveyed between this Country and the Colony of British Columbia.
