Sir,
With reference to my despatch No. 60 of the 14th of June last, I have the pleasure to inform you that the Secretary of State for War has on my recommendation authorized the issue of a supply of Rifles for the use of the Volunteers of Vancouver Island of a description superior to the Brunswick Rifles recently sent out, and that 500 stand of Rifles Pattern /53 with a propersupplyManuscript image supply of ammunition have accordingly been presented to the Colony.
As no ship of War is likely to leave England for Vancouver Island for several months, application has been made to the Transport Office to provide conveyance for these stores.
