The Lords Commissioners of Her Majesty's Treasury have had
before them your letters of the 19th September, and 27th
December last, and their enclosures.
Their Lordships desire me to state, for the information of the
Duke of Newcastle, that, after fully considering the subject of
the memorials submitted for improved Postal Communication with the
Colony of
British Columbia, and having communicated thereon with
the Postmaster General, they see no sufficient reason, at the
present time, for granting a subsidy towards improving the arrangements
under which correspondence is conveyed between this Country and the
Colony of
British Columbia.
