No. 93
19th July 1865
Sir,
With reference to my despatch No. 81 of the 8th Ultimo, I have the honor to report that Ahan and Sutas, two Chilicoten Indians were found guilty of active participation in the Massacres of last year andsentencedManuscript image sentenced to death. Ahan, the Chief, was executed yesterday.
2. I eagerly availed myself of some favorable circumstances in the case of Sutas and sent him back pardoned to his tribe. A sufficient number of Indians has now perished on the scaffold to atone for the atrocities committed last year.
I have the honor to be,
Sir,
Your most obedient, humble Servant
Frederick Seymour
