I have had the honor to receive Your Lordship's despatches
noted in the Margin,
respecting claims advanced by the Government of
Vancouver Island
against that of
British Columbia on account
of of the maintenance of
Lighthouses and the Conveyance of Mails.
2. I was not satisfied that the claims were well founded and
therefore resisted them. Now however that the Colonies have been united
with a Common Treasury the Matter necessarily settles itself.
