In acknowledging the receipt of your communication of the
4th
instant, stating that my official connection with
British Columbia is
at an end; I desire to express my sincere regret that an inadvertence
on my part, should have produced such a result. I regret this the
more, as in the anticipation of receiving an appointment in this
country in which I shall be of most essential service to the Colony,
I should have much preferred being promoted from the one position to
the other, rather than even for a short time to cease to be a member
of the Civil Service of
British Columbia.
