I have laid before The Earl of Clarendon your letter of the 10th instant; and I am, in reply, to request that you will state to Earl Granville that His Lordship concurs with Rear Admiral Hastings that, under the circumstances, it will not be necessary to confer the local and temporary rank of Lieutenant Colonel on CaptainDelacombeManuscript image Delacombe, now in command of Her Majesty's troops at the Island of San Juan.
