Having submitted to the Postmaster General your letter of the
15th Instant, Enclosing copy of a despatch from the Governor of
British Columbia, in which he recommends that the Money Order
System shall be extended to that Colony, I am desired by his
Lordship to state, for the information of the
Earl of Kimberley,
that he readily assents to the Governor's proposal; but before
fixing a date for commencing the measure, I am to request that
the accompanying copies of the rules which have been drawn up
for the transaction of Money Order business between the United
Kingdom and the Colonies may be sent to the Governor of
British
Columbia for the concurrence of his Government.
On receiving information on these points,
Lord Hartington will
be in a position to name a date for the Simultaneous
commencement of the measure in the United Kingdom and in the
Colony.
