In reply to Earl Greys letter of the 16th July I am commanded by my Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty to acquaint you for his Lordships information that their Lordships have this day appointed Richard Blanchard Esq Governor and Commander in Chief in and over the Island of Vancouver and its dependencies, to be Vice Admiral of the same, and in the event of his absence, the Officer administering the Government of the said Island for the time being.
