I beg to acknowledge the receipt, on the 13th Inst, of a
circular from your Grace dated 10th October 1853, transmitting copy
of a letter from the Board of Trade informing that the Lords
Commissioners of the Admiralty had resolved to discontinue forthwith the
practice of Registration by Tickets of British Merchant seamen, and that
their Lordship's are however anxious that the records of the Merchant
seamen of the country should notwithstanding, the discontinuance of this
practice, continue to be kept accurately.
I have to inform your Grace that according to your instructions and
in pursuance of those wishes I shall immediately call the attention of
the Collector of Customs in this
Colony Colony, to the provisions contained in
the 75
th Section of the Act 13 & 14
Vict. cap. 93.
