I have to acknowledge the receipt of your Despatch No 24, of the 8th of November last reporting the outbreak of hostilities between the troops of the United States and the Native Tribes on the American Oregon.
In conveying to youmyManuscript image my approval of the measures you have taken for aiding the American authorities on this occasion, I have to assure you that I place reliance on your discretion and energy to meet the difficult circumstances in which you are placed.
