Labouchere acknowledges the receipt of Douglas’s despatch and transmits him a copy of a despatch regarding the loan Douglas gave the governor of Washington Territory.

I have to acknowledge your Despatch No 33 of the 7th December and I transmit for your information the copy of a despatch from Her Majesty's Minister at Washington reporting what had passed between him and the United States Secretary of State relative to the payment of the money advanced by you to the Governor of Washington Territory for the purpose of prosecuting hostilities against Indian Tribes.
