I have duly received your Graces Despatch No 3 of the 22d July, transmitting copies of a correspondence between the War Office, Foreign Office, the Admiralty, and the Colonial Office referring to the disposal of the Land and Buildings at Esquimalt, occupied by the surveying party under the CommandManuscript imageCommand of Lieut Colonel Hawkins.
2. I have agreeably to your Graces instructions, put myself into communication with Rear Admiral Baynes the senior Naval Officer on the station, and I beg to enclose herewith for your Graces information the copy of a letter from Admiral Baynes, in which he states his intention of recommending the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty to obtain the Land and buildings in question for Naval purposes.
