Sir,
I am commanded by the Lords Commissioners of Her Majesty's Treasury to return to you herewith the Act passed by the Legislature of Vancouver's Island in December 1862 entitled an Act to impose Certain Stamp Duties on Writings and Deeds, which accompanied Mr Elliot's letter of 23rd Ultimo, and I am to acquaint youforManuscript image for the information of the Duke of Newcastle, that Their Lordships having communicated this Act to the Commissioners of Inland Revenue, are of opinion that there is no objection to it, but the Commissioners have called attention to an omissioninManuscript image in the Act as Noted in the Margin (17th Clause).
