Bute Inlet is located north of
Desolation Sound, near the northern end of the
Strait of Georgia. This 66 km long inlet was named after the 3rd Earl of Bute, John Stuart, by
Vancouver in 1792.
1 Bute Inlet is known for strong winds and for an
oily material
on the surface of its water, which is called “Bute wax”.
