Sir,
I have duly received your Despatch No 56 of the 28th April, in which you are pleased to acquaint me that, Her Majesty's Government have had under their consideration, the means of procuring a regular postalManuscript imagepostal service between St Francisco and British Columbia, and that the Lords Commissoners of the Treasury, were about to issue advertisements for tenders for this service, to be performed fortnightly between Sn Francisco, Victoria, and Fort Langley, and I have to return you my best thanks for this gratifying information.

This scheme has been given up and the Draft Despatch to the Governor of B. Columbia so informing him is in circulation.
Acknowledge receipt referring Governor Douglas to that decision of H.M's Govt on this subject.
