Newcastle acknowledges Douglas's despatches describing the developments in
British Columbia, adding that I have perused these Reports with much satisfaction.

I have to acknowledge the receipt of your despatches marked Separate of
the 9th and the 25th of October last giving an account of your
recent journey through B. Columbia.
I have also received your Despatch No. 95 of the 9thof of November
enclosing a Report by Dr Forbes of H.M. Ship "Topaze" of the
proceedings of the Exploring Party under his charge.
I have perused these Reports with much satisfaction as containing
interesting information on the advance the Colony has made, and as
showing, so far as can at presentbe be ascertained, the Agricultural and Mineral Resources of the Country.
