No. 63
I have the honor to forward an Authenticated and two plain
Copies of an Ordinance of the recent Session of the Legislature
of this Colony, entitled;
No. 5 An Ordinance
to
to prevent the violation of Indian Graves.
2. This simply extends a beneficial measure
introduced by me on the Mainland in 1865, over the United Colony.
3. I append the report of the Attorney General.
Minutes by CO staff
M Elliot
Sanction the Ordinance. The difference bet: this Ordinance & the
Ord N 19 of
1865 is that "100 dollars" is substituted for
"One Hundred Pounds"—(a considerable, but reasonable reduction) and "6
months" is inserted for "12 months" in Sect. 4.
