Seymour forwards an Ordinance of Indemnity and The Attorney General's report. Cox minutes that Elliot has all the Finance correspondence. Holland’s minute summarizes the ordinance and recommends sanctioning the ordinance and attaching additional papers to the ordinance. The included document is from Young and discusses the ramifications of the supply ordinance No. 26.

My Lord Duke,
I have had the honor to receive Your Grace's despatch No 24 of the 11th of May expressing regret that an Act of Indemnity had not been obtained from theLegislativeManuscript image Legislative Council in regard to the expenditure of certain monies in the late Colony of Vancouver Island without Legislative sanction.
2. It is with satisfaction that I have to state that with considerable trouble the Auditor managed to place the public accounts of Vancouver Island in such a position as to enable me apply for and obtain the Ordinance of Indemnity forwarded herewith.TheManuscript image The Attorney General's report is enclosed.
