With reference to Your Grace's despatch No. 36 of
15
June 1867, I have now the honor to state that the question
respecting the lease
of of certain land at
Quatsino Sound has
been the subject of communication between the Acting Colonial
Secretary and
M J.C. Stewart, the local agent of the English
Company and one of the parties pecuniarily interested in it.
M Stewart has reported the substance of those communications
to his principals in England. The Government have offered to
convey the land in fee, after survey upon payment of
the the purchase
money.
M Stewart is quite satisfied and I presume his
correspondents in England will be so likewise.
