Responding to Robinson’s letter, Wilson informs Robinson that Wilson does not have the information regarding telegrams that Robinson wants. Wilson states that he has made enquiries to New York for the information and will communicate the results to Robinson. Minutes by Elliot and Robinson discuss why they registered Wilson’s letter.

Dear Sir,
I have the honor to acknowledge receipt of your letter of the
22nd inst.
On looking up the authorities which we possess with reference to
the Telegraphs in America I found that I did not really possess
such information as I should like to furnish to you. I therefore
caused a service message of inquiry to be telegraphed to New York,
and I have asked for full information. So soon as I shall have
received a reply to this message I shall do myself the pleasure of
communicating to you the results. I trust that it will be in time
if you obtain the information tomorrow.
