letter from the Lords Commissioners of the Admiraltycontaining instructions from 1864 to the Pacific Admiral regarding sending forces to the interior of British Columbia. Included documents describe the concerns of naval officers in sending forces into the interior of British Columbia in 1867 and describe events which led to naval forces considering moving to the interior of British Columbia in 1864.

Sir,
I transmit to you for your information and guidance, and with
reference to your despatch No. 93 of the 16th August, a copy of a
letter from the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty, enclosing copy of
the instructions issued in 1864 to the Admiral in the Pacific onthe
the subject of detaching a force from the Ships under his Orders in
the event of disturbances arising in the interior of British
Columbia.
