Abstract

Seymour states that Seymour handed over the Public Seal of Vancouver Island to Rear Admiral Hastings with the intention of having Hastings pass the seal to Denny from the ship Forward. Cox minutes that Denny delivered the seal and was given an acquittal. Cox’s minute discusses how to proceed with the seal.

My Lord Duke,

With reference to My despatch No. 53 of 1st June, I have the honor to state that I have this day handed over the Public Sealof

of Vancouver Island to Rear Admiral Hastings. The Seal will I believe be conveyed to the Colonial Office by Commander Denny late of Her Majesty's ship "Forward".
