My Lord Duke,
On the receipt Yesterday afternoon of Your Grace's despatch No. 33, of the 19th June, respecting the omission to inform Your Grace formally oftheManuscript image the acceptance of the proposals embodied in the Postmaster General's letter of the 12th August 1867, I at once telegraphed to Your Grace in the following words— Despatch of 19 June received today. Postal arrangements adopted since January. Earnestly request our consequent prepayment may be accepted in London. I write by Mail. All quiet.

2. My Executive Council and myself were not aware that a formal notification of acceptance was required, as will be seen in my despatch of the 28th July, No. 73. We were glad of the arrangement and the local Postmaster General was informed of it.
