I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 10th instant, informing me His Grace, the Duke of Buckingham & Chandos,hasManuscript image has been pleased to appoint me to be Colonial Secretary of British Columbia, with a Salary of £800 a year.
I have to request you will be good enough to convey to His Grace my thanks for this appointment, and to state that I shall be fully prepared to leave this Country, by the MailSteamerManuscript image Steamer sailing for New York on the 4th November.
