No. 20
25 March 1868
Sir,
I have received your Despatch, No. 148, of the 22nd November last, forwarding an authenticated copy of an Ordinance of the Legislature of British Columbia entitled No. 39, "An Ordinance to amend and assimilate the procedure of the County Courts in all parts oftheManuscript image the Colony of British Columbia" and I have now to convey to you Her Majesty's Gracious Confirmation and allowance of that Ordinance.
Several of the Sections of this Ordinance and of former Ordinances will require alteration when the Ordinance establishing the two Supreme Courts has passed. I trust to hear that this has been done, and that an end has been put to the uncertainty and confusion which must of necessity be detrimental to the effective administration of justice in the Colony.

Should it be necessary to re-draft this Ordinance it is worthy of consideration whether it would not be better to set out such of the provisions of the Imperial acts as it is thought desirable to introduce into the colony rather than to make a general reference as in the present ordinance to all the Imperial Acts.
I have the honor to be
Sir,
Your most obedient
humble Servant
