Sir,
I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your Despatch No. 60, of the 9th of June forwarding a copy of a letter which you had received from Mr. Duncan, Magistrate and Missionary at Mettakhatta [Metlakahtla] reporting the massacre of nine Indians atthatManuscript image that Settlement.
From a communication which I have received from the Admiralty I have learned with much satisfaction that Admiral Hastings has expressed to you his readiness to co-operate with you in arresting the murderers, and I trust that I shall shortly hear from you that the measures which you have taken in concert with the Admiral to effect this object have been successful.
