I transmit to you for your information and guidance and with
reference to your despatch No. 131 of the
28th of September last, copies
of a correspondence with the
War Office from which you will see that
although the Secretary of State for War is unable to withdraw
the the claim
of his Department against your Government for £675.2.4 on account of
certain revolvers and ammunition left by
Colonel Moody, Royal Engineers,
on loan for the use of the colony of
British Columbia, he has no
objection to allow the settlement of the claim to remain in abeyance
until the necessary funds become available.
