My Lord,
I have the honor to forward an Authenticated and two plain
Copies of an ordinance of the late Session of the Legislature,
entitled;No. 17.
No. 17. An Ordinance respecting the practise of Surgery, and
for the encouragement of the Study of Anatomy.

2. The subject is by no means a pleasing one and the Government
Members of Council were generally opposed to it.
3. It will rest with Your Lordship, after reading the Attorney
General's report, to determine whether the measureshall

I do not myself see much objection to this Ordinance, but looking to the opposition that has been offered to it, I should not be disposed to sanction it.

I wd write to the Govr requesting for fuller information as to
the ground upon which the opposition was based, & suggesting a
doubt whether the Ordinance should not be confined to teachers
of Surgery & Anatomy.
I am inclined to agree with the Governor & Attorney General. If
the Govt Members of Council opposed it, I presume it was carried
by the non officials, which would look as if there was no public
feeling against it.
