                  Sir F. Rogers
                     It appears to me that
M Young may fairly be considered as
entitled to some compensation for the loss of his original
                     office namely Col:
Sec at
Vancouvers Island, to which he was
                     app in
1859 & which was abolished at the Union in
1866—tho' it
would only be a months Salary for each years Service. But small
                     as that sum
w be it is more than the Colony would pay.
                     The

 Treasury should be recommended to
sanction the Passage Allowance given to
M Young.

                     But the important question to
M Young is his app to some
                     other Office.

I infer that he is not prepared to accept the Police Magistracy
                     at
B. Guiana which was offered to him.

M Meade should have this & with it 4918 Straits

 Settlement
with reference to the app of Ass Col. Sec there. The Salary
is $3600 (£765) to be increased when the Clerkship of the
Council becomes vacant to $4200 (£892).
