Otway informs the Colonial Office that Clarendon will consider Seymour’s Observations, regarding including British Columbia in the Terms of a Reciprocity Treaty with the US, while negotiating the treaty with the US. Cox’s minute suggests seeing minute on F.O. 1303.
With reference to your Letter of the 4th Instant, I am directed
by the Earl of Clarendon to request that you will state to Earl
Granville that the Observations of Governor Seymour in regard to
the Extension to British Columbia of the Terms of a Reciprocity
Treaty if negotiated with the United States will be borne in Mind.
