Hammond to Under-Secretary of State
With reference to my Letter of the 9th of March I am directed
by the Earl of Clarendon to transmit to you for the information
of Earl Granville, a copy of a despatch from Her Majesty's
Minister at Washington reporting that the further consideration
by the United States Senate of the San Juan Convention, which
was signed by Lord Stanley and Mr Reverdy Johnson, has been
postponed till the next Session of that Body.

and instead decided that "the further consideration of the
convention should be deferred until the next Session."
