With reference to my Letter of the 9th of March I am directed by the Earl of Clarendon to transmit to you for the information of Earl Granville, a copy of a despatch from Her Majesty's Minister at Washington reporting that the further consideration by the United States Senate of the San Juan Convention, which was signed by Lord Stanley and Mr Reverdy Johnson, has been postponed till the next Session of that Body.

But still the correspondence with Sir G. Cartier & the F.O. including the draft Convention (as regards which see F.O. 2325) [should] be sent to the Govr of B Columbia for information?
