Sir,
I transmit to you for your information, a Copy of a letter from the
Admiralty with a Copy of a letter addressed by their Lordships to Rear
Admiral the Honorable G. Hastings desiring him to make Valparaiso his
future head quarters as Naval Commander in Chief in the Pacificbut but to
keep one of the ships under his orders in the Neighbourhood of British
Columbia.
