I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of
Mr. Hankin's
despatch No. 17 of the
24th of June forwarding a letter with its
accompanying enclosures addressed to me by
Mr. G.W. Cox [W.G. Cox], late Junior
Stipendiary Magistrate
British Columbia bringing under my consideration
his claims to the Salary of his late Office for the months of
Juneand and
July 1868.
In reply I request that you will inform
Mr. Cox that I regret that
the claim which he has advanced for two months Salary of his late Office
is not one that it is possible for me to entertain under the
circumstances of the case.
