I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of Mr. Hankin's despatch No. 17 of the 24th of June forwarding a letter with its accompanying enclosures addressed to me by Mr. G.W. Cox [W.G. Cox], late Junior Stipendiary Magistrate British Columbia bringing under my consideration his claims to the Salary of his late Office for the months of JuneandManuscript image and July 1868.
In reply I request that you will inform Mr. Cox that I regret that the claim which he has advanced for two months Salary of his late Office is not one that it is possible for me to entertain under the circumstances of the case.
