I have to acknowledge the receipt of Mr. Hankin's despatch of the 26th June, No. 22 forwarding a Report from Mr. Trutch the Chief Commissioner of Lands and Works, who accompanied the late Governor on his visit to the North West Coast of British Columbia.
Mr. Trutch's Report is very interesting and I must express my satisfactionbothManuscript image both at the prompt manner in which Mr. Seymour started for Metlakahtla on receiving my despatch of the 7th March last and at his success in accommodating a quarrel which if left to itself might have produced very serious results in arresting the course of improvement among the Indians.
