I have to acknowledge the receipt of
Mr. Hankin's despatch of the

26th June, No. 22 forwarding a Report from
Mr. Trutch the Chief
Commissioner of Lands and Works, who accompanied the late Governor on
his visit to the North West Coast of
British Columbia.

Mr. Trutch's Report is very interesting and I must express my
               satisfaction
both
both at the prompt manner in which
Mr. Seymour started for

Metlakahtla on receiving my despatch of the
7th March last and at his
success in accommodating a quarrel which if left to itself might have
produced very serious results in arresting the course of improvement
               among the Indians.
