I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of
Mr. Hankin's
Despatch No. 36 of the
3rd August, requesting to be informed whether I
will cause the Colony of
British Columbia to be reimbursed from Imperial
funds the expenses of
Mr. Seymour's funeral. In reply I have to inform
you that I am unable to propose that the
expense expense should be borne by the
British Treasury, but I shall not object to recommend the Lords
Commissioners to sanction the expenditure out of Colonial funds, if your
Council will pass a covering Vote for the amount which has been
disbursed.
