No. 77
31st May 1870
My Lord,
I have consulted the Attorney General upon the subject of Your Lordship's Circular Despatch of the 28th December last respecting the construction of the "Casual Revenues" and "Law and practice of Escheat Acts," which have been passedinManuscript image in various Colonies, and as to the proper mode of dealing with the proceeds of Escheated Estates.
2. The subject is not one that has been brought into notice in this Colony and there is no immediate necessity for legislation upon it. But it would be well perhaps to pass a modification of the Sketch Bills furnished by your Lordship, at the next Session of the Legislature.
