Sir,
With reference to the last paragraph of the despatch of 6th ult. from the Governor of British Columbia, copy of which was transmitted in your letter of 10th inst, I am directed by the Lords Commissoners of Her Majesty's Treasury to state, for the information of Earl Granville, that the desire of the Admiralty is that the present arrangement, by which the Account of Expenditure in connection withtheManuscript image the Detachment of Royal Marines at San Juan Island is made up for the year from 1st January to 31st December, should be changed, and that for the future the Account should be made up from the 31st March in one year to the same date in the next.
I am also to request that directions may be given for the early transmission of the Account for the Quarter to 31 March 1870 in order to give effect to this arrangement.
