I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of a Circular Despatch
               from
the Duke of Newcastle, dated the
29 of May last, transmitting
copies of the Decrees, Regulations and Instructions under which His
Imperial Majesty the Emperor of the French, has directed that the
Universal Exhibition of Agricultural and Manufacturing Produce shall be
               opened at
Paris on the
1 of May 1855, and also copy of a
communication addressed to His Grace by
direction

direction of the Lords of the
Committee of Privy Council for Trade, recommending certain steps which
it is desirable should be adopted without delay, in order that the
industry and resources of the Colonies should be duly represented at the
Exhibition. And his Grace further directs that due publicity may be
given to the project of this Exhibition, and that I should lend my
influence to the formation of a Committee in this Colony for the purpose
of securing every facility for the due representation of the
Manufactures or Produce of the Colony, and I beg to assure you, that I
               shall attend to those instructions.
