I am directed by Lord John Russell to acknowledge the receipt of your Letter of the 2nd instant respecting a claim which had been preferred on the Colonial Department for the payment of Twelve Shillings on account of Stores supplied to Lieutenant Colonel Hawkins at Vancouver's Island; and I am to state to you, in reply, that His Lordship has requested the Secretary of State for War to give directions that this Sum may be paidManuscript imagepaid to the credit of Naval Services and charged to the Account of Her Majesty's Special Mission for the survey of the land boundary between British Oregon and the Territory of the United States.
