Berens to Newcastle
Hudson's Bay House
London
11 August 1862
On the 4th July I had the honour of addressing your Grace with reference to the claims of the Hudson's Bay Company for their outlay in the Colonization of Vancouver's Island, and in that Communication I ventured to express a hope that Your Grace would be pleased to direct the immediate payment of the £30,000 voted by the House of Commons.
As more than a month has elapsed since that Communication, and as the Claim is obviously increasing by the accruing interest, I trust that I shall not be considered intrusive in requesting your Grace to directtheManuscript image the payment of the said Amount.
I have the honor to be,
My Lord Duke
Your Grace's most obedient Servt.
