With reference to your Predecessor's despatch No. 45 of the 3rd of November last I have the honor to transmit to you a copy of a letter with its enclosure from the Honble Jas. R. Howard on the subject of the Douglas Pine, from which you will learn that it is not the wish of the Commissioners of Woods and Forests that anymoreManuscript image more seeds or cones should be collected for that office until the result of those recently sent home has been ascertained.
