Cardwell instructs Kennedy to make known to the Inhabitants of Vancouver Island that the Prince and Princess of Wales have received their congratulations on the birth of their son.

With reference to your Despatch No. 22 of the 4th ultimo, I have the honor to request that you will make known to the Inhabitants of Vancouver Island that their Address of Congratulation to Their Royal Highnesses the Prince and Princess of Wales upon the birth of aManuscript image Son has been duly laid before their Royal Highnesses who were much pleased by the evidence which it affords of their good wishes.
